Private Lessons:
There are a number of instructors to help you fast track you’re training with private lessons. Private lessons are available for all BJJ and Thai Kickboxing students whether you are a beginner or advanced level. Register your interest with Chief Instructor Anthony Perosh or Elvis Sinosic.
Next BJJ comps:
The next BJJ comp is in Sydney on August 31st followed by the Machado Nationals in Melbourne on September 13th and then a competition run by the Australian Jiu Jitsu Council on September 28th.
More information about the events is posted on the noticeboard at Concord and Liverpool.
Next MMA show:
The next Cage Fighting Championships show is in Sydney on September 12th. SPMA student Jesse Landry will be fighting on the show. Tickets will be available from SPMA.
Next grading:
The next grading will be held on September 15th and 16th in Liverpool and September 17th and 18th at Concord.
Lighting upgrade:
We have doubled the amount of lighting on one side of the room at Concord. The other side will be done soon. At Liverpool we replaced all the lights with new globes. The difference is electrifying!

SPMA instructors are back!
Chief Instructor Anthony Perosh was in hospital for 2 weeks and then at home for 2 weeks recovering from a right knee infection. He is back teaching full time but is still a couple of weeks away from starting to train. Anthony wants to thank all the students who sent get well cards, called, sent text messages, emailed, visited and brought lots of chocolate and DVDs to watch! Thanks!
Liverpool head instructor Paul Sinosic is also back to full teaching duties after breaking his right leg and ankle in March. Paul is now in the rehabilitation phase of his recovery and is working on his strength to get back on the mat.
Welcome back!
Full time:
SPMA has hired a second full time admin director Tiana Messina. Tiana was working part time previously with SPMA. Tiana will be working between the Concord and Liverpool schools. Welcome Tiana.
Grading:
Another grading has just finished. Congratulations to everyone that graded.
Next BJJ comp:
The next BJJ comp is in Sydney on August 24th followed by the Machado Nationals in Melbourne on September 14th. More information about the events is posted on the noticeboard at Concord and Liverpool.
Partnering with Bay Wok Thai:
SPMA has partnered up with Baywok Thai located at number 61 Majors Bay Rd run by owner Robert Galati. Baywok Thai give SPMA 2 vouchers every month to give away to SPMA students starting in May. The vouchers went to students with the most BJJ and Thai Kickboxing classes attended in May. Shaher Khan won a voucher for most BJJ classes and Neville Tam won a voucher for most Thai Kickboxing classes.

Chief Instructor hospitalised:
Chief Instructor Anthony Perosh is currently in hospital with a right knee infection. He has been there 10 days having surgery and antibiotics to clean it up. Anthony gets out of hospital in a few days and will return to SPMA to teach on Monday June 9th. He was scheduled to fight at CFC 4 but had to withdraw. You can expect to see Anthony in the ring again in August!
CFC 4 results:
SPMA student Shane Nix defeated Xavier Lucas and won the CFC welterweight title at Cage Fighting Championships 4 in Sydney on May 23rd. Both fighters were coming in with perfect records. It ended up being the toughest match to date for both competitors. In the end Shane Nix scored the victory after the referee stopped the match in the second round due to ground and pound. Well done to Shane. He is now the CFC champion and takes his record to 7 wins and 0 losses.
Next grading:
The next grading at Liverpool will be held on June 23rd in Liverpool and June 25th and 26th at Concord.
The Liverpool grading on Monday June 23rd is Kids at 5pm, BJJ at 6.30pm and Thai Kickboxing at 7.45pm.
The Concord grading is on Wednesday June 25th for senior kids at 5pm and BJJ at 7pm. And on Thursday June 26th at 4pm and 5pm for junior kids and Thai Kickboxing at 7pm.
There is also morning gradings at Concord on Thursday June 26th at 10am for Thai Kickboxing and 11am for BJJ.

Next BJJ show:
There are 3 BJJ (with gi) tournaments on the weekend of May 17 and 18. There is the Machado NSW state championships, ISKA and NSW BJJ Federation competitions. All entry forms are available on our website or at the school.

New Saturday morning Yoga instructor:
Anya Rowlands is now teaching Saturday mornings at 8.45am. Anya teaches Ki Yoga and also teaches the Monday and Wednesday 6pm classes.
Update on Paul:
Liverpool Head Instructor Paul Sinosic is healing well from his broken leg and itching to get back on the mat to teach and train in BJJ, Thai Kickboxing and MMA. He is back at Liverpool now managing the school but is still a few months away from teaching. We wish him a very speedy recovery.

Warriors Realm results:
On Friday February 29th SPMA had 3 students that fought at Warriors Realm at Homebush.
Fred Chahroura won his first professional match by decision. Chi Kit Cheung lost his match by decision in his third professional match. And Aaron Martin lost his match by TKO in the first round in his second professional match.
Well done to all the fighters! And a big thanks to the trainers and all the SPMA students who came along to support.
Next grading:
The next grading at Liverpool will be held on March 31st in Liverpool and April 2nd and 3rd at Concord.
The Liverpool grading on Monday March 31st is Kids at 5pm, BJJ at 6.30pm and Thai Kickboxing at 7.45pm.
The Concord grading is on Wednesday April 2nd for senior kids at 5pm and BJJ at 7pm. And on Thursday April 3rd at 4pm and 5pm for junior kids and Thai Kickboxing at 7pm.

Local paper & True Local promotion:
SPMA and Concord Yoga is participating in the “Live the Good Life” promotion together with the Inner West Weekly, Liverpool Leader and True Local. Come and ask one of the staff at the school what it’s about. You may even get a prize!
Yoga instructor leaving:
Kriena Ryan is teaching her last class at Concord Yoga on Saturday April 5th at 8.45am. Kriena has been teaching Ki Yoga for 1 year at Concord Yoga. She is moving house further away and cannot commit to teaching. Come along for her last class and wish her all the best.
The Saturday morning class will continue as usual. Stay tuned for who will be the new instructor.

Cage Fighting Championships 3 Results
Cage Fighting Championships 3 was held on Friday February 15th at
Luna
Park. Chief Instructor Anthony Perosh fought Moise Rimbon from
France.
Anthony took Moise down to the ground and held him down for a few
minutes
executing ground and pound. Moise was able to stand up and in the
next
exchange Anthony lost the match by TKO at the end of the first round.
SPMA student Shane Nix also fought on the show and won in the first
round.
Shane now takes his record to 6 wins with 0 losses. The promoter of
the
show granted him a title shot.
Both Anthony and Shane will be fighting again on CFC in May.
Warriors Realm:
On Friday February 29th 3 SPMA students will be fighting at Warriors
Realm
at Homebush. SPMA students fighting include Chi Kit Cheung, Aaron
Martin
and Fred Chahroura. You can purchase tickets to the shows from SPMA.
Next BJJ comps:
The NSW BJJ Federation are hosting a no gi comp on March 16th and the
ISKA
is holding a gi comp on March 30th. Entry forms are available at
SPMA.
Next grading:

April 2nd and 3rd at Concord.
New equipment and clothing:
SPMA has received a huge shipment of Fairtex Thai Kickboxing
equipment,
Atama gis and Clinch board shorts. There is a wide variety of colours
and
sizes. Be sure to purchase yours before stock runs out.

Welcome back!
SPMA is back in full swing at both Concord and Liverpool schools from Monday January 7th. The weather is hot, the classes are full and the training is hard. Just the way we like it!
New timetable change
From Monday January 7th there is a timetable change at both schools:
Concord - The morning Thai Kickboxing class will be moved from Monday and Wednesday 11am to Tuesday and Thursday 10am, preceding the BJJ class, which starts at 11am on Tuesday and Thursday.
Liverpool - The Monday and Wednesday classes will become fundamental classes and the Tuesday and Thursday classes will become intermediate classes. This is for both BJJ and Thai Kickboxing. To do the intermediate classes you have to have completed your first grading in both BJJ and Thai Kickboxing. Students who have not graded and any new students will be limited to Monday and Wednesday night and Saturday morning only.
MMA
Cage Fighting Championships 3 will be held on Friday February 15th at Luna Park and will feature Chief Instructor Anthony Perosh and SPMA student Shane Nix fighting. Two weeks later on Friday February 29th up to 6 SPMA students will be fighting at Warriors Realm at Homebush. SPMA students fighting include Steven Micallef, Chi Kit Cheung, Fred Chahroura, Adam Celestino, Chris Kalliris and Aaron Martin. You can purchase tickets to the shows from SPMA.
BJJ
The intermediate classes at both Concord and Liverpool are no gi for about 10 weeks. The beginner classes will continue to be gi classes.
Thai Kickboxing
Sparring class is on Monday night at Concord and Thursday night at Liverpool. You need to have graded to the first level (Yellow t-shirt) to attend this class.
Yoga
Anya Rowlands takes the Monday and Wednesday 6pm classes and Kriena Ryan takes the 8.45am Saturday morning class. These are Ki Yoga classes and are great for total body strengthening and stretching.
Open Mat
All members have 2 open mat sessions they can attend to train on areas they want to improve. They are both at Concord on Friday 6-8pm and Sunday 2-4pm.
